ABOUT THE PROGRAM
What WIC provides
WIC helps growing families eat well during the most important years. Benefits are provided at no cost to those who qualify.
Healthy foods
A monthly benefit for items like milk, eggs, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and infant formula.
Nutrition support
One-on-one guidance from staff to help your family build healthy eating habits.
Breastfeeding help
Education and support for new and expecting mothers who choose to breastfeed.
Health referrals
Connections to medical care, immunizations, and other community services.
ELIGIBILITY
Who can apply
You may qualify for WIC if you live in Alabama, have a nutritional need, and are one of the following:
Pregnant women
Through pregnancy and for a period after the baby is born.
New & breastfeeding mothers
Up to 6 months after birth, or up to 1 year if breastfeeding.
Infants
From birth up to the first birthday.
Children under 5
Up to the child’s fifth birthday.

If your household's gross income (before taxes) is at or below the amount for your family size, you likely meet the WIC income requirement.
